Where's My Midwife? is a grassroots organization seeking to increase access to midwives in hospitals, freestanding birth centers and at home through education and advocacy. Where's My Midwife? believes strongly in the type of care midwives provide. The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes. Midwives monitor the physical, psychological, and social well-being of a mother throughout her childbearing cycle, providing her with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care. Midwives offer continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, as well as postpartum support. They seek to minimize technological interventions while identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention.
