I am looking into VBA2C with my next pregnancy. I want to find a practice that will be supportive before I am pregnant. I know of places that will do VBAC but none that will do VBA2C. I live on the line of NC and SC. Do you know of any sources that will help me?

I am a CNM who does home birth in Ohio and I have a lady in my care right now who will be a VBA2C. Please find Dr. Mark Landon on facebook or look for his studies online--google him. Very, very supportive research on VBAC after multiple Cs and could put to rest that huge fear that women have about "rupture". (how about we don't call it that any more. Call it what it would be "the scar opens", no one has exploded that I know of and that is what women see with the word "rupture".) you can google me too, I would love to talk with you in person and offer encouragement. Remember that YOU are the person with ALL the power in this situation It only becomes other people's power to make decisions about your baby, your body or your birth if YOU allow them that power.

I did recently have a girlfriend in her 2nd pregnancy want to do a vbac and her doctor said "We'll see as you get farther along if it's safe" Then at about 6 months he said He wouldn't feel comfortable with her trying... blah blah blah, baby's too big etc. She had to switch doctors. It seems like it's a doctor preference and you just have to have one that will honor your wishes. No fun to change doctors so late in the game but it's worth it if you have to. She ended up having her vbac and very successful! A wonderful text book labor. Good luck!

Have you been in contact with ICAN? they are a wonderful resource. I am looking for the same type of support and am hoping to have a doula to accompany me with my OB as well but he works with midwives already. Do you know anyone who has had either a doctor perform a VBAC? I find so much assitance from friends

I am 6 months into my 3rd pregnancy and I am being told that I am not a candidate for a VBAC because I "have never given birth vaginally". With doing my research through not only internet websites but with other doctors besides mine (who unfortunately don't accept my medical insurance), I know that having a VBAC after 2 C Sections REGARDLESS of a previous vaginal delivery is definitely possible. How do I fight this? I know my rights as a patient (rights to refuse, etc). I am also aware that the hospital I plan to birth at has staff in the building 24/7 just in case of an emergency (surgeons, antestiseologists) so if I were to show signs of a rupture at any given time I will be taken care of immediately! I'm not understanding why they are denying me my choice for a VBAC. What else can I do besides tell them over and over again that I know their wrong?!? Please, please help. This is our last baby and I'd love nothing more than to do this!!
